[Inactive] I think I've got a Trojan virus - help!
« on: October 21, 2008, 11:10:20 AM »
Hello – I hope you all can help me!  Recently, I got a warning on my computer telling me I had a Trojan virus on my computer.  I've run AVG anti-virus, Trojan Hunter and Hijack This in regular and safe modes.  Running AVG in safe mode revealed two instances of a Trojan horse that was supposed to have been removed.  I ran AVG in safe mode again and no viruses came up.

However, I still believe I have a virus despite having nothing come up on any of the virus checkers I'm running.  My main reason for thinking my computer is still infected is the fact that my internet connection dies after about 5-6 minutes.  I've tried using the computer on another network and had the same problem.  Usually when I log on now, I can access the internet for 5-6 minutes and then after that, I have to completely reboot to access the computer for another 5- minutes.  I've tried using the Repair and Disable / Enable functions for my wireless internet instead of rebooting and neither has worked.

Can you please help me??  Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated!  Thank you!!  Hijack this log is below...

Uninstall your Symantec product while you are using AVG...running more than one antivirus application on board in real time will actually reduce your level of protection and could result in data loss from a system crash that the instability can cause. Also, the trojan hunter software is not necessary while using the AVG8 suite...you should consider uninstalling that too.

In addition, if you aren't using AOL as your ISP, then please uninstall the ViewPoint software as well.

Post back when you've removed those programs and advise how your system is performing. Thanks!
