C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Companion\Installs\cpn\yt.dll
« on: September 05, 2010, 02:17:58 PM »
WinPatrol keeps barking at me that his wants to install:

C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Companion\Installs\cpn\yt.dll

It says it's an IE Helper (I mostly use Chrome). But in the description, it says there's "no description found and no company name associated with it."

I deleted Yahoo toolbar from my add/remove facility, and rebooted, but it still keeps coming up, and Scotty keeps barking.

I'm afraid to let it install, and I don't want it anyway. How can I get it to stop?

I just did your great cleanup here, and installed firewall, Avira, run Spybot once a week, have WinPatrol and SpywareBlaster set up.

But is this malware? Or just an intrusive Yahoo?

Thank you.

This seems to be malware, so I've moved my inquiry to that forum with a hijack this log. Please close this thread. Thank you.

Not malware, just the Yahoo toolbar. From the looks of things, you got it under control now.
