I recall Steve Gibson of Security Now talking about Web Loyalty scams with Leo Laporte  a while ago.

The Today Show warning about online membership scams is now online- Shutterfly, Classmates.com and others.

This is also the same as cell phone ringtones.  They will say they are free, but charge your bill for something like $10.00.
