Blue Screen of Death, Problems, Please help!
« on: March 01, 2014, 06:42:05 PM »
Hello everybody, I joined this site to try and get some help with the issue's i am having with my laptop the laptop is a samsung np700z. Whenever i run a lot of things on the laptop i keep on getting that blue screen of death. Not very nice to have when you are on the laptop trying to do stuff. I looked online after the second time of it happening and the code i was getting was asmtxhc1.sys So i spoke to samsung support and they advised me to run Samsung recovery solution 5.

So i restored it too the date i got the laptop 01.15.12 and decided to not backup my files because i wanted my laptop to go a little bit faster and thought it could help the system more if i started a fresh, Well i got what i wanted ASMTXHC1.sys did go away after installing "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware" & "SUPERAntiSpyware"

But then an hour later i got the blue screen of death again, but this time it was a different code starting with DE... it was on for a bit longer but i didn't have time to write down the code or take a picture.

if anyone can be of any help i really would appreciate it. I just got my laptop back from repair due to a broken screen and really don't want to take it to the repair shop again. Thanks everyone.

Stevie.

When the computer is running without a lot of stuff running, how does it do? Is it stable? Have you ever run a memory test on the system? What version of windows is installed? Can you give me the stop code that is displayed during the BSOD?

Without lots of stuff running it works really well, fast, plays videos well and music. can switch user accounts pretty fast too. I haven't done a memory test no, any suggestions on programs to try ? i am also running windows seven. I can't give you the code yet not until it happens again, i wouldn't know how to get to it without running a lot of stuff. i find it weird it went from one code to another code... would that suggest maybe the motherboard is playing up?

I need you to go to the administration tools in Vista / Windows 7. They are in the Control Panel. Open the Admin tools, then open the event viewer. Over on the left hand side expand the window category and then click on  System. Then up at the top click on Action and then click on Save Events As, type in system as the file name,  make sure file type EVTX is selected, and then navigate so it will save the file to your desktop, then click save. Over on the left hand side and click on Application. Then up at the top click on Action and then click on Save Events As, type in application as the file name,  make sure file type EVTX is selected, and then navigate so it will save the file to your desktop, then click save. Zip them both up into a single zip file, post them back here in your next reply as attachments.

Please download memtest86+ and burn it to a CD. The link is an ISO so you need to use \’Burn image to disk\’ and not just burn the file to a CD. Then reboot your computer and go into the Startup section (probably using F2 when the computer first starts, there should be a message telling you how, this is also called the BIOS) and set your computer to boot from the CDROM. Then put the CD in the drive and boot to it. Run the memory test several times, and then let me know what the results are.

Also that application event viewer log, you only have a single entry. Could you try that one again. Also please go to c:\windows\minidumps and tell me how large that folder is.

That time both of them only had one entry. When you are saving the events, make sure to only click on the log name in the left window and select "Save all events as". If you click on any entries in the right window, then only that line gets saved.
