dell win7 blue screen, won't open downloads or run them
« on: December 11, 2015, 08:07:28 PM »
Hi Guys,
I'm having issues with my all in one. Windows 7 Dell x64 system 32. Occasionally blue screen, but for 3 days I have been trying to download and run the newest iTunes 12.3 to restore my new i Phone 6+ with my backup info. Getting message "darlyn's i phone cannot be used with this version of iTunes please download and install newest version." I can see in my downloads the icon. When i click run the window disappears and nothing happens. I've tried everything I know how even recover to previous date. Spoke to apple, they are no help. Suggesting I buy a new computer. UGH.
Please help. !!

Do you know what program the BSOD is calling out as the error?

Also please give me a copy of your event viewer logs using the instructions below.

I need you to go to the administration tools in Vista / Windows 7. They are in the Control Panel. Open the Admin tools, then open the event viewer. Over on the left hand side expand the window category and then click on  System. Then up at the top click on Action and then click on Save Events As, type in system as the file name,  make sure file type EVTX is selected, and then navigate so it will save the file to your desktop, then click save. Over on the left hand side and click on Application. Then up at the top click on Action and then click on Save Events As, type in application as the file name,  make sure file type EVTX is selected, and then navigate so it will save the file to your desktop, then click save. Zip them both up into a single zip file, post them back here in your next reply as attachments. If they are too big, let me know and I will give you other instructions on how to get them to me.

I think I might have fixed one issue. I was getting a fatal error message on startup 'INTERNAL ERROR:CANNOT CREATE TEMPORARY FILE'. After googling that message I found a solution. control panel, system, advance system settings, environment variables, changed the TMP variable to c:\temp. After that I was able to run my downloads. I probably will still have the blue screen errors.
Thanks, Darlyn

Your attachment couldn't be saved. This might happen because it took too long to upload or the file is bigger than the server will allow.

Please consult your server administrator for more information.

my zipped file is 3.51 MB

You are having massive network issues.

download Portable Windows Repair (all in one) from one of the following:

http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/windows_repair_all_in_one.html
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Tweaking.com_-_Windows_Repair_Portable_d7222.html
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/windows-repair-all-in-one-portable/

Unzip the contents into a newly created folder on your desktop. Make sure your AV protection is turned OFF before running the tool....

Open the folder, run the tool by right click on Repair_Windows (icon with red briefcase) select "Run as Administrator"

From the main GUI do the following:

Select Tab 3 and allow it to run Disk check

Select Tab 4 and allow it to run SFC

Select Tab 5 and Create System Restore Point

Select Start Repairs tab => Click the Start

The repairs window will open, uncheck the boxes as indicated, also the "Restart" option, then select Start...

DON'T use the computer while each scan is in progress.

Post the log, to access select "settings" tab > "open log folder" tab, log will be named _Windows_Repair_Log

OK, please get me the event viewer logs again. This time I need both the system and application logs. Upload them to the same place as before.

Sorry for the delay. I have been gone all day. Try installing the newest version of Itunes now. When it asks, select the repair option. Also before trying to run it, copy it to another folder, that way you have a copy and do not have to redownload it again.

Hmm, my reply seems to not have made it.

Are you having any other problems?

So far so good. I didn't know if the results of the repair needed further work. Everything seems to be working at the moment.

That's all that is needed then. If you have anymore problems, come on back and ask away.
