Mouse Freezes randomly
« on: July 02, 2016, 09:52:25 PM »
I use Windows 7 64 bit.
My hardware is Gigabye  B85M-D3H-A with Intel i5 4th Gen processor,  16 GB RAM, Microsoft Wired Desktop 500 mouse and keyboard
Recently the most started to freeze randomly, mostly when using Firefox.
But seems that this freezing is not limited to Firefox only.

I did install the latest mouse drivers,

What happens is (and randomly) the mouse is on (the LED is on) and the mouse freezes, The keyboard and computer works, I can just do my work.
Sometimes the mouse just stops and there is NO LED light at all,
In both events the only solution is to unplug and plug the mouse again and it works for some more time until it goes into the same mode
The one thing that I noticed is that when i click some page it does freeze after that, it does not freeze when the desktop is on all night..
So seems the mouse freezes when its used

I do hope can get solution for this

Hardware issues can be the hardest to track down, but in your case the solution may be simple. How old is your system? About 3 years?

The next time the mouse freezes I would like you to try something. Hold the mouse still and move its wire around. Especially where it goes into the mouse and where it goes into the USB plug. While moving the wire around, watch the cursor on the screen. Does the cursor move or jump around at all? If it does not, do you know how to get to and read the event viewer logs? If you do, check them out and see if there are any entries for the mouse or for USB errors. Let me know.

If you do not know how, I need you to go to the administration tools in Windows 7. They are in the Control Panel. Open the Admin tools, then open the event viewer. Over on the left hand side expand the window category and then click on  System. Then up at the top click on Action and then click on Save Events As, type in system as the file name,  make sure file type EVTX is selected, and then navigate so it will save the file to your desktop, then click save. Over on the left hand side and click on Application. Then up at the top click on Action and then click on Save Events As, type in application as the file name,  make sure file type EVTX is selected, and then navigate so it will save the file to your desktop, then click save. Zip them both up into a single zip file, post them back here in your next reply as attachments.

I tried using the method you suggested,
There was absolutely nothing going on with the mouse,
This time as before it was dead (without any LED light on it,
After unplugging and plugging, it works again as before

Tried attaching, the file is about 2 MB in size

You gave me the System and Security Logs, I needed the System and Application logs. Please save the Application log using the instructions above and attach it to a reply.

I suspect that will not show a problem. Do you remember when this started happening? Was it after a Windows update? Are you having any problems with other USB Devices?

Please download Autoruns and unzip it to your desktop. Then run Autoruns64.exe . It will take a moment or two for the scan to run. When it is done running click on file and then click on save, give the file a title and save it to the desktop. Then zip it up and attach it along with the applications event viewer log.

I am sorry, shall do that again, Please find the attached logs as you require
System and Application
Not really an idea how it started happening.

I use external hard drive (not connected at present) but it does not have problem with that, only with this.

Could you try the Autoruns file again, don't zip it this time.

But about the logs, the App log shows two issues. First has to do with Cloud Station. If you have it and need it you may want to reinstall it. If you don't use it, then uninstalling it would be best. The second problem has to do with a VPN server. Do you use a VPN at all?

I am not sure if either of these are related to your problem, but in the last 5 days these two problems have cropped up 112 times, and no matter how you slice it, that is not good.

The cloud station that you are talking on, is since the day of installation,
Seems to be part of Gigabyte suite (using Gigabyte B85M-D3H-A motherboard.

I did install VPN before because there was some thing about some site being prohibited, but then the ISP saw sense and did not do that.

Please find attached the result of autoruns65.exe attached as .am file,  I am using the computer for almost 2 hours now and there was no mouse freezing.
I did not do anything to sort it at all.

The file is 7 MB and seems the website does no allow that.

Sorry for the delay, I have been a bit under the weather. And I could have swore I had posted on the 5th after getting the file. For some  reason it is corrupt as well. Can you open the file on your computer?

I know you had said a few days ago that the mouse had stopped freezing, is it still that way or did it start freezing again?
