Hi All,

I know this isnt spyware issue, but i was hoping if someone could help.

The issue:

My parents love to have the screen saver show photos of their holidays. Normally this isn't a problem until recently.

If i go to \personalize\screen saver, the normal pop up appears, where the drop down menu lets me select various options eg
- none
- photos
- windos gallery thingy

there is the settings and preview tab

All their photos are under my photos, no problem.

They have loads of subfolders of various holidays etc.

If I select the drop down "window galley", then in settings point at the photos folder. It wont look at subfolders...
....so that option is no good.

When i go to the drop down option "Photos", which i believe worked before with no problems. It choses it fine, but when you go to either settings or preview....it hangs and doesnt recover. YOu have to rght click the window at the bottom and force close.

I have searched for hours on how to fix this, without getting anywhere. I presume the file path in the settings of "photo" is wrong or corrupt, but i cannot access settings cause it hangs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rgds

I troubleshot a similar problem on my niece's computer and it turned out there is a picture or group of pictures with a problem with a picture or pictures. I recently ran into a jpeg that windows would open fine, but when I tried opening it in an image editor, I was told that the jpeg compression of that image was corrupted. I have not checked the images from my niece, but I suspect there is a similar issue with the images that cause problems on her system as well.

Try moving a few images into another new folder and see if you can select that folder.

Hey Hoov,

And thankyou for your prompt reply.

I will try out different folders, starting with the latest. It is one of those bugs, that is really irritating my parents. As they like to watch the family photos on screensaver when they are watching tv!

Fingers crossed.
