Windows 7 corrupt registry
« on: June 29, 2014, 11:23:22 PM »
Hi,
My HP DV6 in middle of update got Blue Screen and shut down suddenly and won't boot again. Tried start up repair and got no where. Now got message like this: the system registry file is missing or corrupted. Any idea how to fix it.

Have you tried booting as if you are going to safe mode, but select "Boot to last known good configuration"?

yes I did, it worked but suddenly shut down after that and it does not boot, no safe mode, or start up repair able to do the job.

Laptop or desktop? Is it hot? Try turning the computer off for an hour or so and see if it does anything more after cooling. Do you know how to create a knoppix boot disk? If not let me know. If you do, try booting to one.
