These could be multiple problems.
First, windows update. When the update fails do you get an error code, or does windows update just keep scanning for updates.
Next, Google Chrome, do you use CCLeaner? When was the last time you ran it?

Windows update attempts to run & it appears that the update is attempted but they fail. I don't think that there is a code, but I will attempt to run the updates again to see if there is a code. I will also let you know what updates are being attempted.

I do use CCLeaner. Not sure when I ran it last. I can run it now.

For Windows update, I need you to reset the Windows update components. Go to here, select the link for Windows 8.1, Windows 8, and Windows 7 and click the link before that. The Fixit will download. Install it and then run it in aggressive mode. Once it is done, if it does not ask, reboot the computer and then try running windows update again. Let me know how it goes.

Started off having a problem getting windows to boot in normal mode. After finally getting it to boot, it kept freezing. Booted in safe mode & removed some old programs that were no longer being used. That seemed to help the boot problem & freezing.

After running the windows fixit program three times, I was able to get Windows Update to run. It downloaded & installed 4 updates. After all of the updates completed, I was able to open Chrome & access the internet without any problems. Right now, everything seems to be working. I will make a few more checks to make sure that there are no further problems.

I will let you know if I find any further problems.

Thank you so much for your help.

Sorry for missing your response. Have you run a defragmentation recently? If not, check and see if it is set to do it automatically. If its not turned on, go ahead and run a defrag.
