E-Trade scams
« on: December 31, 2011, 06:10:00 PM »
Been getting lots of spam in past few days with titles like "Etrade Alert: URGENT Update" or "Etrade Alert: Account Closed", etc.

The body of the message only contains a hyperlink labeled "Proceed to Log-in Page" or something simiilar. The underlying links use Google goo.gl shortened URLs, so who knows where they might actually go...  :sd

I don't use Etrade so I know these are malware and/or phishing attacks.

If you use Etrade, contact them directly if you're concerned. Don't click the links in these emails!  :i

Just an update...

Now the E-Trade messages are entitled: "Your-traded confirmation is waiting" followed by some number.

Again, the link is a goo.gl shortened URL so a clear give-away that this is a scam...aside from the fact that I don't use E-Trade.

Be careful!

Ron
