Phishing Test
« on: February 02, 2009, 09:42:11 PM »
I ran across this CNET article about the DOJ (US Department of Justice) testing their employees with hoax e-mails and then noticed in the comments a reference to another article about a phishing test that was available which tests whether people can tell if an e-mail is a phishing attempt. The test, from a company called SonicWALL, is here.

I thought this test might be of interest to my fellow SWH members. For the record, I took the test and was able to correctly identify all ten e-mails, with some help from a few Google searches, but there were some that were a little tricky. Good luck on the test and watch those e-mails closely.  :)

I took the SonicWalll Phishing test, but I take issue with one of their answers. The one I got wrong was an email from a bank that had several clumsy grammatical errors.

It was supposed to be legitimate. I would advise anyone to be highly suspicious of an email like that. I sure wouldn't trust the phone number included in the email.

If you're sending an email on behalf of a bank, you ought to have someone fluent in English proofread it before you hit "send."
