That makes no sense. My computer is only 5 months old. And nothing is changed but the time and its always setback exactly 1 hour. Nothing else gets changed

Have you executed all the checks in my post above & synchronised with the atomic clock ?

This is past advice from Hoov:-

Have you gone into the BIOS to make sure that your date and time is set properly?

For the BIOS, when you first startup, you get an option to click F2 for setup and F12 for boot options. Or something like that. Go to setup. Along the bottom or the right side there are instructions for maneuvering in the BIOS and for changing settings. One page in there has the date and time. It is usually either the first page, or right near the top. If the date and time are correct, then hit esc and exit the bios. Then turn off the computer and unplug it for 2 minutes. This will clear the BIOS if the internal battery is bad. Start it up again and check the date and time in the BIOS again. If the time is still correct, then the battery is not the problem

Just in case you do have a failing battery, replacement details Are HERE

Yes I implemented all your suggestions on prior pages. Also I shut down this morning and restarted and entered setup. My clock was an hour behind as usual so I changed the clock to the correct time and saved and exited. Now I am going to shut down again and unplug my computer for at the least, 2 minutes, then restart and enter setup again and check the clock. Will report back my findings asap. Thank you for all you do as it is very much appreciated. :)

Okay, I shut down and unplugged and left it unplugged for 5 minutes. Went back into setup after restarting and my clock was still correct. But this doesn't surprise me since it takes from 24 to 48 hours from the time I correct it for it to change the time back an hour.  This is what I am going to do. Even though it doesn't appear to be my battery I am going to go buy a new battery and install it so we can scratch that off the list of possible reasons why my computer clock keeps getting changed. I will report back as soon as I get this done so please give me a couple days. I do not live in town so its a good drive to get this done.  Will talk to you in a couple days. Thank You for your patience.

Hello gamegodesss,

Just in case you read this before buying a new battery:-

My apologies, I gave you the Windows 7 details for changing/checking  the Time Zone not the Windows 8.1
The directions HERE are for Windows 8.1

If you have not already done them, could you check/adjust those please ?

Let me get this straight. I want to make sure we are on the same page. Do you want me to change my time zone to a time zone that is unrelated to where I live? Cuz the time zone on my computer is set right. I did notice one strange thing though. When I was looking at the date and time options I noticed the box for the automatically adjust for daylight saving was unchecked. So I checked it and when I clicked apply it changed my clock forward an hour. I had to uncheck the box to get the time to display right again.  By tomoorow this time it will change on its own again lol Very weird

I will check that out. Unfortunately I do not have Windows 8.1 so it takes a little longer.

N.B. My above post No:35 was an error !

I will have to wait to execute your instructions in post #36. The reason is I went and bought a new cmos battery and installed it. My computers time is set correct as of now. I will have to wait for a couple days to see if it changes on me again so I will get back with you then to let you know the results. See you in a couple days and thank you for all the time you have spent on this so far. :)

Well I would love to be coming back in here with good news but sorry to say not good. My clock stayed correct until yesterday. I got up and got on the computer and my clock was set back by an hour. I am at a loss for words. This is very frustrating. I want to throw it out in the driveway and run it over with my car.. lol

I tried all the options to run as an admin but it isn't working for me. I can not figure out how to get it to give me the option of running as an admin

Unfortunately this can occur in Windows 8.1

We need to use the hidden Administrater Account to correct it

  • Please go HERE & carefully follow the instructions to reveal & use that account.

  • Take care when typing net user administrator /active:yes noting the spacing.
  • When completed, restart the computer.
  • log on to the new Administrater account
  • Next go HERE and follow the instructions commencing with item 2 halfway down the page  here:-Once logged on, from the Start screen, click the button with down arrow to open the Apps window.

Please let me know if it now works.

I appreciated the help. Was wondering if there is anything I can do to maybe clean up my drive to maybe help the performance a bit? Will check back later today. :)
