Page redirect after download click
« on: July 13, 2018, 07:26:51 PM »
I am getting a redirect to a new tab that either is always wanting to upgrade adobe flash player or it goes to a sex site.  What are your thoughts?  If I need to run hijack this, what is the current version?

Thanks for your assistance.

Steve

Hello Steve,

You don't need to download HijackThis.
Please download Malwarebytes version 3 from the following link:

https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/thankyou/

Double click on the installer and follow the prompts. If necessary select the Blue Help tab for video instructions....

When the install completes and is updated do the following:

Open Malwarebytes, select > "settings" > "protection tab"

Scroll down to "Scan Options" ensure Scan for Rootkits and Scan within Archives are both on....

Go back to "DashBoard" select the "Scan Now" tab......

When the scan completes deal with any found entries...

To access the log from Malwarebytes do the following:

  • Click on the Report tab > from main interface.
  • Double click on the Scan log which shows the Date and time of the scan just performed.
  • Click Export > From export you have two options:

Copy to Clipboard - if selected right click to your reply and select "Paste" log will be pasted to your reply
Text file (*.txt)        - if selected you will have to name the file and save to a place of choice, recommend "Desktop" then attach to reply

  • Please use "Copy to Clipboard, then Right click to your reply > select "Paste" that will copy the log to your reply…

After doing that one of the helpers will be able to assist you better.

My name is Hoov and I will be helping you with your problem. Can you tell me what browser you use? Also can you try a different web browser and see if you get redirected with that one as well.

I have Mozilla Firefox (current version)  I also MS edge.  It did not redirect with MS edge.  It must be something in Firefox

I will be out of town until Thursday evening.  I will sign on Thursday night and take you next step of assistance.

Sorry I missed your reply.  Start Firefox in safe mode following the instructions in the link below. Let me know if you still get redirected.

Hoov, thanks for the response.  over the past day or so I was able to refresh Firefox and the problem is now gone.  I appreciate your assistance and have always had good results from this site.  Once you suggested to use another browser, it became clear to me that Firefox was the issue.  Refeshed and saved all favorites, ects.

Again,thanks for your assistance.
