Wireless Comes and Goes

Ever since I got my computer back from a computer shop things have been acting strange. My wireless icon used to be an image of a computer but now it's this green radar looking thing which I've attached.

Every 30 minutes or so it'll lose connectivity and the green radar will turn yellow. I'll click on it and try to connect to my wireless (which is pass protected) and it keeps saying unable to connect. Only way to fix it is to restart the computer.

I thought it might be my modem/router but my other laptop has no problems with the wireless.

Any clues?

A couple things, first when you only need to show a bit of a screenshot, instead of whiting out the rest, just crop it to what you need. There are still people using dialup out there.

Second, you included a Hijackthis log, do you suspect you have malware running on your computer? Is it only the wireless connection you are having problems with?

Third, what is the make and model of your computer, and your wireless card if you can get it? Also put your mouse pointer over that radar icon, and tell us what pops up for a name.

I dont suspect any malware, just figured we had to post one regardless of the situation.

Also not sure where to find my wireless card. Looked around the laptop but unable to locate anything.

Is this the same computer your other post is about?

To get the wireless card, go to the control panel and then to the system control panel, and then open the hardware tab, and click on the device manager, now you will see a category listing of all the hardware. Go to the network devices and click on the + sign and open up the category. You should have two devices, a Ethernet card and a wireless card. Let me know the make and model number of the wireless card.

Go to this page,  and get the file named ICS_x32.exe (it is the second file down) and install it. It is the newest drivers and software for your card.

Let me know if that works, or if you still have problems.

I think they had installed the wrong software for your wireless card. I had the same card in my laptop, and I never got a system tray icon like that.
