well, I thought I took precautions to not reinfect.  I used a drive scrubber, made 7 passes, then did 2 single overwrites one front to back and one back to front. I was not offered a partial or complete install because of the drive scrubbed clean. I shut off my wireless router.  Installed the avast from CD.  Thougt I was good to go.  I did however have to get the license code for avast from my desktop (in which i used a flash drive).  I then connected to internet to start windows updates.  I did not go to any websites or check email on the netbook.

So after I posted my last post I installed secunia on the netbook via the flashdrive I had saved it on previously.  That seemed to get windows update going, because its updating windows now.  So....do u still think I got infected?  Is it my desktop infecting my netbook, all the trouble didn't start until I had turned the wirelss router back on and had started the desktop to check email and such.

Hi Moon

Well you certainly did everything right.  Update and run MBAM and then ESET.  Post the results and we'll have a look.  It could be on the lan or the memory stick.  I would run MBAM and ESET on your desktop and scan the memory stick as well.

I scanned the memory stick with avast before I used on netbook.  It came up clean.  Do you want me to let netbook continue updating before I do mbam and eset on the netbook?  Do you want me to run those on my desktop?  If yes to run on desktop, do you want me to post those results here, or wait to see results of netbook scans?

Hi Moon

Let the update finish as long as it doesn't hang up.  Post both the netbook and pc results.  Let me know which is which.
Scan the stick with MBAM as well.

All scans on both pc's came up clean.  The screen on the netbook, still does the appearing disappearing act, so i don't know what else to do.

Hi Moon

Don't think it's a malware issue.  Did about as much on system issues as we dare.  Could be a hardware issue (I would expect video).  You could try updating the bios but you may end up with another R & R.  I think I'd call it a day.
