Well there is a way but it ain't pretty. Encrypt the wireless connection and put in a very complex password as long as you possibly can, then loose the password. No one will be able to log into the wireless connection.

Finally got someone that knew what they were doing. Took awhile since this is a new modem for them.

Login >Wireless (tab) >Primary Networks (menu on left) next to the label 'Primary Network' is a drop down >select 'Disable'.

What's confusing is when you first select the Wireless tab you are in the Basic (menu on left) and you see several choices beginning with "Wireless Interfaces" followed by "Wireless" etc... Next to each is an Enable/Disable drop down.
When first seen it seems logical that to disable the wireless radio you would select "Disable" from the drop down but it's greyed out and un-accessible. Even after disabling the wireless on the Primary Networks page the "Wireless" on the Basic page drop down still reads as Enabled.
Sorry got a little long-winded there.
So after all that I access the Netgear WGR614v7 and there's no QoS Setup for the router. The Router Upgrade didn't show any updates and the one on the Netgear site showed no additional features.
Are there any compatible Third Party Firmwares out there that you know of?

What version of firmware are you using? According to what I found the newest is Firmware Version 2.0.30. Make sure to pay attention to the warning on that page.

If you already have that version, then I am sorry I led you on. I believed what I read. As far as I know, there is very little third party firmware out for any hardware. I am not sure I would trust it anyway.

Your best bet is getting a new router.

It's looking like that's the way to go.
Any recommendations?

Not really. I am happy with my Linksys, but there are those that hate them. But whatever you do, make sure you do your research first, and don't try to buy the cheapest router. This is one area that if you spend a little more, you will be more assured of the results that you want. Also you may want to look for features that you may not need now, but might in the future. Like a gigabit capable router.

I've always had Linksys also until Brighthouse started using these modem/router combinations. Just using the Netgear has added 10-15 points of signal strength to my wife's laptop. And when momma's happy everyone's happy. I'll do my homework next time.
Thank you for all your time and help. It's very appreciated.
