Hi Rabbit
You need to check the mobo manual and make sure it doesn't need the two slots filled to run, else it could still be the ram.  Also in some mobos a specific slot is primary and must be filled to run.  

In a shop they can switch out parts until they find the right one, without charging you for all the ones that did'nt need switching.  At home you can run up a bill replacing parts that don't need replacing.
