It sounds like it. We have made absolutely no progress toward a fix. Do you need help with it? You can use the XP SP3 install disc that we created to install windows when you do it.

I would like some help.  Are there any file back up programs? I saved my folders one by one already but I wanna make sure I got everything. Remember the back up program that is on windows does not work . I kept trying it last week.

There are backup programs, but I can't recommend any of them as I don't use them at all. I do my backups totally different. I do know a few people that use Macrium.

Pretty much the same as you did before, except this time you don't have to be careful how you do it. Go thru the normal reinstall procedure for Windows XP. When you get to the step about where to install it, I would delete the partition and recreate it. This also gives you a chance to delete any recovery partition if you want. As you have an XP SP3 installation disc with all the updates as of a week or so ago, I would install windows, then install your security programs, then update windows and your security programs. Then install all your software. Create an image of the disk as you did on the other machine, then restore your personal data.

The entire procedure is much the same as what it was with windows 7, except with XP it takes a little longer, and there are more questions to answer.

The only issue that I am having is that the internet on this computer is slow when connected to the cisco router. The connection speed is good when connected directly to the modem. My other computer connects to the cisco router via wireless usb and the internet works good.

Can you connect the other computer to the router via an Ethernet cable and see how that goes?

First you need a program to measure transfer speeds on the AdHoc network. I suggest using Netstat Live from AnalogX . Just download it and install it. Once its installed all you have to do is run it then look at the numbers.

For the AdHoc network there are instructions here. Follow steps 2 and 3.

Once you have two computers networked together wirelessly start up Netstat Live and then transfer a large file from one computer to another. A large movie file or ISO file would be big enough to get a good benchmark on what speed the problem computer will do. Let me know what kind of results you get.
