[INACTIVE] ie9 redirected
« on: December 29, 2011, 03:57:07 PM »
Hi There - Thanks in advance to anyone willing to respond. PC was infected with rogue security software - Malwarebytes and CCleaner run off a flashdrive solved most issues, but ie9 searches all redirected to Infomash or other commercial sites. I've updated win7 and run trendmicro as well, and nothing detects whatever is hijacking my browser - I'm also worried about other undetected spyware remaining. Hijackthis log posted below - I'd appreciate any direction regarding what to remove or not remove (or any other feedback to help fix browser redirect and clean any possible spyware).

Hi and Welcome!!

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here

Disable any script blocking programs you may have installed (such as Norton script blocking), and then double-click dss.scr to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
    • Save both reports to your desktop
    • Please copy and paste dds.txt into your next reply (do NOT attach and hold on to attach.txt for now).
Some background information on what we're planning to do can be found HERE

[color="#FF0000"]Please read carefully and follow these steps.[/color]

    • Download TDSSKiller and save it to your Desktop.

    • Double-click on TDSSKiller.exe to run the application, then on Start Scan.

    • Click on "Change parameters" and place a checkmark next to Verify Driver Digital Signature and Detect TDLFS file system, then click OK
    • If an infected file is detected, the default action will be Cure, click on Continue.

    • If a suspicious file is detected, the default action will be Skip, click on Continue.

    • It may ask you to reboot the computer to complete the process. Click on Reboot Now.

    • If no reboot is require, click on Report. A log file should appear. Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.
    • If a reboot is required, the report can also be found in your root directory, (usually C:\ folder) in the form of "TDSSKiller.[Version]_[Date]_[Time]_log.txt". Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.

Great! Another thing I'd like you to check is whether any iexplore.exe processes are running in the background when Internet Explorer is not open.

You can check this by opening Task Manager (hit Ctrl + Shift + Esc simultaneously) and then once Task Manager is open, click the "Processes" Tab.  Click the Image Name collumn header to sort alphabetically, and check for iexplore.exe in the process listing.

Trouble already regretfully - when i saved dds trendmicro popped up detecting a trojan called PAKGeneric.001 - Went ahead and saved dds to desktop, but when i try to run window pops up that says it's not a valid win32 application, and won't let me run program.

I don't have Norton, just Trend - not sure if it's not fully saving or simply blocked once I try to run. Suggestions?

I'll check task manager as you instructed while I wait for a response.

That was a corrupt download because your Trend AV was interfering with the DDS download.

    Delete DDS from your desktop.

Then, you need to disable Trend completely by following the directions here:
    http://esupport.trendmicro.com/solution/en-us/1037114.aspx

    Then redownload DDS.scr and scan.

    Then download TDSSKiller and scan.

    Re-enable Trend afterward.

I'm sorry, but this doesn't look like my version of Trend Office Scan and I can't figure out how to disable. I'll keep trying - don't know how long you'll be online, but if I can't figure out, I still appreciate you trying to help.

If there is a Trend-Micro Icon in the system tray, try right-clicking the system tray icon and see if you can disable it from the context menu.

    See if this helps:
