I have been looking for tools for you, and as for free tools the one you are using is the best bet. There is a paid for tool that might work, but I have to see if it will write to DVD's. I will try and let you know today.

Is everything still running good?

Yes everything seems to be running pretty good.Thanks. I still have to add my back ups to my computer yet.I wanted to create an Image first before I do that.
Do you know if I were to put my system Image on Dvds.Do you put 1 in after the other? Since the whole Image will not copy to 1 Dvd.I have never copied A system Image to Dvd.Only system repair disk. Thanks

There is another program that can put a backup image onto DVD's but it is not free. It is called Nero Backitup. I have been using it for a while, but I backup to an external drive. But the windows backup tool should work, even if you just use it to backup your personal data.

Hi again Hoov! I was thinking about what you said earlier.I started to think maybe I could use my old hard drive to store it on like you suggested.I saw a few videos on Youtube on how to do it & I think even I may be able to do it. :ROLF My Question is- If I used the Other drive & picked up the enclosure for it.How would I install It from There?Would I have to somehow clean all of the Old data off of the old Internal drive? Or Just plug In the USB for Back up?Curious how that works. Thanks again for all of your Help & knowledge & a Special thanks to you & all of the American troops!!The site you have up is a very nice tribute  ;)1

There are several ways you can use it. First you can actually stick it inside your computer so you won't need an enclosure. All you would have to do is to pickup a SATA cable (like this one), then format the drive and use it as a backup drive. Or you can buy an enclosure and leave it outside the computer. Or lastly you can get one of these and connect the harddrive to a USB port with no enclosure.

For someone that is not doing a lot with the computers, I would suggest putting it inside the computer.

But anyway you do it, all you have to do is format the harddrive (possible you would have to do a low level format) and then start using it.

Think about it. I can help you with any method you decide, I have used and still use all three methods. There is one thing that might go wrong, and that is if the harddrive is so messed up that it cannot be reformatted for whatever reason. If you stick the drive into the computer then you will be out some time and 7 bucks or so.

Hi Hoov,I felt more comfortable using the enclosure since it is separate.Plus I don`t have to take my computer apart. On the plus side If you can Help me to do this.It will be my first full back up unit ever! Imagine!? So all I have to do Is put it together. If you would be so kind as to explain what must be done after that is done that would be great! Thanks so much :)1

What you need to do is to download this program, and just because it was replaced because of problems, run the write zero's full erase option. This will clean the drive totally. You have to make sure you get the correct drive, or else you will have to reinstall windows.

Once you have done that, you will have to format it thru windows, and then you will have a backup drive that is totally clean.

Do you have any questions about any part of the procedure? Any question about the parts you need?

That is the program. There is only one download button on that page. Once you have it installed in the enclosure, with the data and power connections made, then yes, all you need to do is connect it to the computer via a USB cable, and to power (if required) and then turn it on.

I`m sure this going to sound fairly retarded to you.Do I set up the drive Letter for the external first?Do I have to click Admin tools -Computer management -then disk Management to give the external  drive a Letter first? Or format. Then Run the Download?LOL Sorry.Bet you can`t wait time You are done with me.Thanks for your patience ???

Actually Windows will assign the drive letter as soon as it sees the harddrive. You only need to mess with that is you want to change it.  Once it does that, run the download. Once that is done (and it is probably going to take a very long time for that, as in 8 hours or so) then you format it.

As for retarded, don't worry about it. I was once in your position, and had to ask a lot of questions that would seem basic to the average computer user, but they are not basic until you run into it and have dealt with it.
