That still looks like the wrong CD. The one you are looking for is the Dell Resource CD. When you stick it in, it should try and run. If you run it you will get the screen similar to the one below. If you click on applications you will be able to see the Quickset link. All you have to do is run it.

If it is not on the download page, they there is something else for your computer. Don't worry about it.

How is your computer doing? Were you able to scan your backup files and restore them to the computer?

Hi again,I have scanned the disks & they seem to be clean.I have not installed them yet.I will probably do that today or tonight.I had a few other Quick Questions for you before I reinstalled these Items.
1.Do you think It is a Good Idea to make a New system Image of my computer now Or after I install the other Items? I have to pick up something that holds more Data as I was not able to complete 1 with a DvD.
2.I created a standard account & Admin account. But then read somewhere that Windows Auto creates an Admin account? Does this mean I have 3 Account now?
Should the Admin account be disabled?? Thanks for your help

There are a couple ways to do the system image. You can do it after the windows install and updates are done, or you can do it after you install all your software. The latter way is the way I do it. Then if I have to reinstall windows, all I have to do is restore the drive to that point, then update windows and all my software after that point. Much less to do.

After that, then I restore my personal files. Then all I backup after that point is my personal files.

So in the end I have two backup discs. One with all my personal info, and one (actually more than one) with windows and all my software.

About the accounts. Yes windows creates an Administrator account, but it is not one you can normally access. But it also creates a guest account and at least one more account, possible more. So with the two you have created, you have at least 5 accounts on your computer. Don't worry about them. And other than the guest account, I would just leave them alone. And the Guest account is turned off by default.

Thanks very much.I will try to do the same.I have not yet reinstalled my back ups.Although When Trying to make the system Image yesterday I seemed to have a problem with Copying all the Info to dvd.Windows would fill up the Cd then If I inserted another would start over(at least thats what it looked like) I think I need something larger to store my Image on?May have to take a ride to store. Thanks again for all your great advice!

Let me check on something. I think there is a better tool for you, but I need to ask someone that uses it. I don't want to give you bad information again.

To be totally honest with you, I don't know exactly what was wrong. I thought you had one of the current crop of Trojans that prevent security programs from running. Then I thought you just had several virus's going on. But the fact that we never really found anything wrong, and what we did to fix your computer, just leads me to believe you had a virus or two that made the existing problems you had even worse. Because the fact that you had bits and pieces from other software on your harddrive that was interacting with Windows, tells me that you have had problems for a long time, but you had gotten use to them. But because of those bits and pieces that were causing problems to begin with, it makes it even harder to track down.

Sorry I can't be more exact.
