Click Start. click run, type: cmd, and press Enter
Type: netsh winsock reset, and then press the ENTER key.
Type: Exit and press ENTER.
Restart the computer.

Test out your connection again. Use IE and chrome. See if they are both the same. Let me know.

After  did the run.  I tested out the connection both IE and chrome seem to be working the same, also I tested Firefox, that's where I was having the problem, and that seems to be working fine now.

Right now I don't think I'm having any other problems, other than the Windows corruption problem you were talking about.   Did you want to try to do nLite again?

I did remember that when I finished running the Avira scan it did find an infected file from AT & T tool.  When ever I start up my system I have an AT & T support tool appear for a few seconds that looks like a command prompt window.  Don't know if that is so pose to do that or not.  It still comes up if that means anything.    I'm going to re do the nLite.

Well I tried to do nLite again, and got an application error again, the same as before.  If I hit ok it will terminate the application...if I hit cancel it says it will debug the application.  Which should I hit or just x off of it?

Try rebooting windows cleanly and see if nlite will run.

I need you to reboot windows cleanly. To do that please go to the run command and type in msconfig . Once that starts, select selective startup, and then uncheck the load startup items. Now click on the services tab, and down near the bottom of the window, check the box that says Hide all Microsoft Services now go up and uncheck all the services still listed, make sure you scroll down the list if need to unselect all the non Microsoft services. Now click apply, then click OK and reboot the computer.

Try running nlite. If it runs, go ahead and follow the instructions. If it crashes again, just run msconfig and select normal startup then click apply then OK and reboot.

Let me know how it goes.

I can't get that far to try nLite.  First by accident I unchecked all items under selective startup.  I got a message system configuration...an access denied error was returned while attempting to change a service.  You may need to log on using an administrator account to make the specified changes.  Then I went back and did it the correct way.  I'm still getting the same error message.  I get a utility window after rebooting...you have used system configuration utility in diagnostic or selective startup.  Use general tab, which I did to get back to here.

I now have a new toolbar that wasn't there yesterday.  It just appeared...I never ordered it.  When I put the curser over it...it says PC HelpSoft.  Don't know if it came in from one of our scans or not.

Go to the add / remove programs in the control panel. See if PC HelpSoft Community Toolbar is listed. If it is, click on it and then click on remove.

Once it is done, reboot the computer and see if it is gone, or if it comes  back. Let me know.

PC HelpSoft Community Toolbar is not listed in the add/remove programs of the control panel.  I opened firefox and it is there though.  Also when I started my computer Avast came up with a possible that said there was not enough to classify it as malware.  It didn't give what program other than it stated The Program.
