CCleaner won't remove the restore points unless you're using that feature to remove them during a scan. Just don't use that part of the program...leave the restore points there and it's fine. I use it to remove old restore points and keep only one. Each time I scan, I look to see how many restore points are there and remove all but the latest. I'm good with it.

I don't even see a feature to remove restore points in CCleaner.   :sd

Click tools-->system restore. Your restore points are listed there. You would be able to remove any of them but the latest one which is grayed out so you CAN'T remove it for obvious reasons.

That's what I thought.  I haven't touched that feature, all my restore points can be seen.  W/O CCleaner in my system, system restore works fine.  If I run CCleaner once, the restore points no longer work, ever. Uninstall CCleaner they still don't work.  Restore from an Image that didn't have CCleaner in the system, system restore works.  Re-install CCleaner it still works, run CCleaner once, system restore doesn't work again.  Repeat the process by going back to the image w/o CCleaner all is well. I can duplicate the problem again and again.  I hope I explained it well enough to understand.

I went to an image w/o CCleaner, installed System Ninja and cleaned the disk, system restore still works.

You have Windows 7?

I'm using Windows 7...I use CCleaner always. Never had a problem with a restore point. Regardless...I have a question:

Why is it even troubling you since you obviously restore your system using the image file? Fact is, when you backup to an image file...and it's apparent that you do and do it often, then it's a waste of your system's resources to even have system restore running.

If I were you, I'd keep ccleaner, disable system restore and save disk space and resources.
