Another issue
« on: April 10, 2012, 07:52:41 PM »
Once again TIA.  I installed some software I ended up not liking, so I removed it.  Prior to the install I set up a system restore point, after the uninstall I did a system restore to the point I created prior to installing the software.  Long story short I did a system restore and got a message that System restore was unsuccessful and no files were changed.  Try a different restore point, which I did and got the same message.  What's wrong?

Thanks,
FD

Some firewalls do not like doing system restores. One in particular is ZoneAlarm.

Another problem could be your Harddrives. How long has it been since you defragmented your harddrive?

Something else you can try is to do a system restore when you are in safe mode. That might get around any security programs that are causing problems.

Was the uninstall unsuccessful? I am curious as to why the system restore after the uninstall?

The Hard drive is 0% fragmented.    An IT friend of mine told me to create a restore point before installing a program, if things don't work out uninstall it and then do a restore.  I guess you can call it an old habit.  I'll try safe mode for the restore, thanks!
