OK, we're looking good.
Go ahead and repeat "reply 16" EXCEPT substitute this for step 2.

2.  Next disable and Enable System Restore. 

Go to Start/Control Panel/System and Security.  Then click on System.  Next click on Advanced system settings in the left panel.  Click on the System Protection tab.   Click on Disk C: and then click Configure.  Click on Delete, then Continue and OK.

Now go back to the System Protection tab (as above) and click on Create to make a restore
point.

I would appreciate if after a couple of days of using your computer you let me know if everything is running fine so that I can close this post.

Hi Bear,
I ran CCleaner per your instructions.  It runs for a while and then says "canceled".  I tried a second time and the same thing.

Hi Sean

This is a new one for me.  Try right clicking and selecting run as administrator.  If that doesn't work try running it from safe mode.  Let me know how it goes.

Hi Bear,

I tried running as admin.  Same as before.  Runs for about 1 min and status bar indicates it is 98% complete.  For the next 1 1/2 to 2 hrs it says:
"wipe mft free space -drive c".  When I check back it says "the cleaning is incomplete"

Having checked with some of the MRS here, they have also had problems with "wipe free space".  If you uncheck it, Ccleaner should run fine.
