images/video/animation blocked in firefox
« on: June 13, 2012, 03:38:23 AM »
Facebook games won't load. Podcasts & videos from Dolphins.com, Miami Herald, NFL.com will not load or play. No problem playing in IE.
I don't even know where to start on this issue.

Problem appeared when FF updated to ver12 so I went back to ver11 and its back to normal. It would be interesting to know exact problem but I guess Mozilla will figure it out.

I can confirm the problem with Facebook games, but the rest seems to work fine. Did you try clearing your browser cache?

Yes, and ran Ccleaner & MBAM.
Oh Lord is my memory or whatever getting bad! I copied the log (below) then forgot to go back and delete them. Could the PUPs have been the problem?

The Crossfire PUP might be the problem, but I would still remove them all. That Game PUP seems to be connected with other malware.

I removed them and ran MBAM again. It found another PUP. Removed that. I re-installed FF-14, same Facebook problem, but the rest worked okay. So I removed FF-14 and installed FF-12 and disabled auto-update for now until they find a solution for the Facebook problem unless you advise otherwise.
And what are your thoughts on Google Chrome or Safari?

I use both occasionally. They are both good browsers.

Have you sent Mozilla a bug report?

You say 'occasionally'. In what situations do you use different browsers?
What do you personally use as your main browser?

I didn't think of reporting it. How would I go about doing that??

My main browser is Firefox. I use other browsers in troubleshooting problems that I encounter or that people I help encounter. I use Firefox mainly because with addons I can customize it with addons to do what I want it to do.

About your problem, I was looking for the page to send them feedback (which is here) and I thought to do a search on your problem and came up with this.

I finally turned off 'Web Download & Recording in RealPlayer' and that solved the problem.
I found the solution through following your suggestion to file a report here:
http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-doesnt-load-video-firefox?s=Facebook+games+do+not+load+in+Firefox+14&r=3&e=es&as=s
Thanks again for your help.

I would never have gotten to that. I stopped using RealPlayer a long time ago. I have the real alternative player installed.

I'll give it a try.
I'm just happy to get back to using Firefox. I couldn't get comfortable using IE or Chrome not being able to customize the toolbar to the extent that FF allows and of course the performance difference.
