Given the number and functional range of currently available security software applications, the possible number of combinations of such applications is exceedingly large. Obvious potential problems exist in constructing and implementing a security array for one’s computer: unnecessary redundancies, degradation of performance, and more substantive conflicts leading to degradation of protection.
Thus an important question becomes how can an individual user best approach actually testing and evaluating a given security setup in real time? Some quantitative performance metrics would also be useful for comparison of various candidate setups.
I look forward to hearing ideas from the security experts here.
