Have you tried downloading and installing it from the Trend Micro Site instead of from your CD..?


Another thing you can try...This is a long shot but if you are using IE as your browser...Check the settings in security...I would only recommend this if the CD is from the manufacturer.

"In Internet Explorer, from the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Advanced tab, and then scroll down to the Security section.

The Allow active content from CD's to run on My Computer and Allow active content to run in files on My Computer check boxes provide the ability to disable the Local Machine restrictions for CD-ROM content or for local drives, respectively.

**Note: The Allow active content from CD's to run on My Computer and Allow active content to run in files on My Computer options were enabled to enhance security in Internet Explorer. Disabling them should only be used as a last resort."

If you do change the setting..I would recommend changing it back afterwards...

one of the trend micro agents hooked me up with a downloadable version of the installer, but it gives the exact same error.

Were you able to get this resolved? If not I've listed a few ideas to consider.

1) Did you have any other AV software installed before (e.g. Norton, McAfee)? If so then you would need to make sure that those are completely taken care of before trying to install Trend's program. I have McAfee's security suite and I had to run a separate program after the uninstall in order to install a new version. Also, if you have a software firewall (e.g. ZoneAlarm) then the installer may see this as a threat although I hope that wouldn't be the case.

2) Do you have any P2P programs installed (e.g. Limewire, BearShare)? If so then I could see the Trend installer possibly considering them a "security threat".

3) What happened when you ran Trend's Interrupted Installation Fix? Was it able to get to the screen that said You may now install your Trend Micro program?

i managed to fix it by formatting, lol.  i was tired of trying to fix it and felt that it was about time to start fresh anyway.  thanks for the help though, it was very much appreciated  ;D
