Hi,

I already have McAfee installed on my computer and to get rid of a Virtumundo virus, I was instructed to download Stopzilla as well.  In order for me to get the report and clean my computer up, I had to pay 39.95 so that I can send the report to Bugbatter.  Now I think I have both of them installed which is not a problem accept Stopzilla takes a little long to load up on startup.

I know that they are both running in real time.

I also installed two other programs that are not running in realtime.  Hijack This and Malwarebytes Anti Spyware.

Who told you to pay for this application to get a log?

Not sure if your version of McAfee includes anti-spyware, but I wouldn't recommend running two anti-spyware applications in real time.  Using HJT and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as needed should be fine - HJT should only be needed when there is a problem while MBAM is an excellent and thorough on-demand scanner.

After running the scan program, a prompt came up saying if I wanted to remove the sypware found I had to pay 39.95 with a 30.00 rebate costing only 9.95.

So should I uninstall Stopzilla and just use McAfee.

Thanks

OK, thanks for the clarification - I thought someone on the forum advised this.

Itried to run a Trend online scan to see what happened but got an error transferring data so couldn't complete.  There is certainly no need to pay for applications prior to requesting help from our experts - they initially work from the log generated by the (free) HiJackThis program, followed by other more specialised tools (also free) as required.  I would keep Stopzilla as an on-demand scanner and rely on McAfee for realtime protection.

At least you got a decent discount and you can now use Stopzilla if you need it.

cgmoll,
You did not complete the instructions in the thread we were working on two weeks ago.

I was instructed to download Stopzilla as well
I instructed you to download and run a tool called ComboFix - not StopZilla. Did you receive help from another person?
Note that in my initial instructions it is stated:
Quote
Please follow all instructions in sequence. Do not, on your own, install/re-install any programs or run any fixes or scanners that you have not been instructed to use because this may cause conflicts with the tools that I am using.

Now you are working with bamajim in a new thread. It would be most helpful to you if you stay with one helper and ask your questions in that same thread. He/She can see what is on your computer and knows what changes have been made.  If you followed my instructions to run ComboFix, please let bamajim know that because someone trained in its use needs to analyze that log and address any files that ComboFix has on your computer. I'm sure your issue will be resolved soon. Stay with one helper and you will be in good shape. :)

Hi bugbatter,

I did stay intouch with you and advised you that I ran Comboxfix report but could not get the report to you because it kept saying the file was to large.

This is all new to me and I am trying to follow all the rules and instructions.

I just need help.

Thanks very much

Bugbatter,

Also,  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix link gave directions to download stopzilla.

I did try to follow your instructions but somehow I failed.

That link is for the ComboFix instructions. You must have clicked on an advertisement for Stopzilla?

You may have missed my reply to your comment that the text file was too large.  When you get that error, all you have to do is divide your post into 2 or 3 posts, and just keep replying to yourself until all the text has been posted. Many new people do not realize that. So if you get that error again while working with Bamajim,  give that a try.  :)  Whenever you get errors while working with a helper, let him know so they can help you correct the problem. When you just go away, we don't know what happened.  As I tell my children, "Worrying is my hobby!"  :D
