Comodo's BOClean
« on: January 27, 2009, 07:06:49 PM »
I have had this program since last summer, but it seems to have trouble updating. It seems to update automatically once in awhile, the last being 12-08-08. However, my Vista machine has updated to 01-23-09 or thereabouts. I do have the latest version, which is 4.27 so not sure what these intermediate updates have amounted to.

Anyway, I deleted and reinstalled the program and now the latest update shown is 07-14-08!? When I attempt to update manually I get error code 106 which says my firewall is not allowing the update (although it seems to have in the past). Checking my Allowed programs in my Comodo Firewall, it does not show BO Clean amongst them. The full path for the updater file does show up in my A-Squared anti-malware however.

So my question would be...should I use this full path as shown in A-Squared to add to my allowed programs in the Comodo Firewall, or should I just use a shortcut like BOClean.exe like the others shown on the allowed list? Hopefully what I have said makes some sense. Or should I just be concerned about version updates. Thanks for any ideas.

Yes, make sure your Firewall is allowing BOClean to get updates. It should be on your allowed list. BOClean updates frequently (daily). At the time of this posting BOClean is current as of Jan. 29, 2009.

So do you think I should just use the abbreviated or short file name and the Comodo firewall should be able to recognize it? It seems like most of the entries in the ALLOWED list are of shorter names. Will give it a go and report back if I have trouble.  ;)
