A couple of forum questions
« on: March 18, 2009, 07:10:19 PM »
1) Is there an Undo button, when creating a post, that I'm overlooking?

2) Is there a way to search for a specific string using the Search button? I tried searching for undo by using undo with and w/o quotes and ended up with many results that had undo as part of a word, such as Vundo.

1. Ctrl + Z ;)
2. I think the 'Search for whole words only' function is an addon to the board software

1) Thanks Mr2. I should have known that but didn't remember it. I wish I had because I wiped out a post that I was working on earlier and ended up retyping it. The bad thing is that that is the shortcut that is always used for undo I believe. I didn't think to do a Google search for it like I just did.

2) Are you saying that we don't have that add-on and that searching for a specific string won't work? The example on the Search page shows e.g. Orwell "Animal Farm" -movie where I would think that the result would have to have Animal Farm as a string but the quotes don't seem to work that way.

3) New comment: I noticed that the Roll Eyes smiley doesn't work as it appears in the selection area. Instead it shows  ::)  It's the only one of the animated smileys that doesn't work (i.e. animate).

2.  I think that is corect.  The Animal Farm example is a bit misleading as that phrase is not likely to occur within another word or phrase.  Incidentally, the forum search works with just one character - I search for a letter 'e' and the username to find a member's profile. ;)

3. I noticed that.  As well as a lack of :rotf: smiley.
