Hi nottheone,

Most of the folk here are, or were,  I T professionals in the strict sense of the word.  I believe most are from a security or systems background.
Me, I'm the black sheep of the site as I have been in engineering all my life.  However, computing subjects interested me enough to base half my degree course on hardware, programming and databases.  So I am not a professional in that sense, though I try to be as professional as possible when I'm here.

Sorry - that doesn't even begin to answer your question, but I'm sure some of the others will be along shortly to advise you.
Whatever direction you choose, enjoy it or else switch to something you do enjoy!

Good luck ;D

I started out doing home user IT and helping out online at castlecops . I got into malware research (for fun at first and then to actively work against the black hats) and eventually was asked to lead the research team for a new antimalware company .

IMO what you have the potential to learn and be a part of online is at least equal to what you can learn in school or on the job . What I have learned online has done more for my future than anything else I have ever done .

It is a great feeling to be part of something that helps many thousands of people all the wile furthering your education . If you like helping people and like a challenge then joining this or any help forum would be a good fit for you .

Hi, I'm sorry if this isn't on the right post but I just can't find the "Ask Questions About SpywareHammer Here" page that I can reply to.  I just wanted to know, since you guys offer free help, how do you pay for the site?  Or your time and effort?  Is there a donation to the program page?  There's usually a link or something but can't seem to find it.

I have found this site to be excellent--even though the reason I had to come here wasn't great but nonetheless, very thankful for the free and knowledgable help.  Your "staff" offered great advice as to how to prevent other problems in the future and that's something not a lot of sites such as these offer.  So, thank you for running an awesome site and all the speedy help!
