Just a note of sincere THANKS!  While my issues are not fully resolved yet, I am very impressed with the responsiveness and expertise that I am receiving from PCB... he/she is awesome, and I feel sure that I am on the road to resolution.

In the mean time, having learned from this lesson, I've already reconfigured three other PCs in my home with Avira and Online Armor (removing previous protection products)... since prevention is the cure!

A very BIG thankyou. I followed the steps to get rid of several malware and rootkits and they worked!

I have confirmed what my intuition was telling me, thanks to the really clear information and resources that are available here

I have even printed out Tony Kleins popular "How did I get infected in the first place?". Probably the most comprehensive guideline and overview of the security elements that are essential for a Windows system to be secure. Most of the tools you guys recommend can also be found in Hirens Boot CD.

And last but not least, take notice of the precautions about using these tools (Combofix, SmitfraudFix...). Take note of all the advice and take care of following the procedures .

I always had the bad habit of multitasking... (errr yes! I admit I had ESET Nod32, Spybot SD running scans at the same time while still downloading torrents, checking my mail and reading the news and I dont know what started or finished first)

When it comes to security, there is only one way. This is... doing the things one by one, and taking special care of every single click you make. You dont want to end up with a brick instead of a computer. After a successful malware removal you will be pleased to have your sys back to normal so you can practice all your special multitasking abilities like me :) If your Pc can keep up with u!

Long live SpywareHammer Team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And their quest for helping out all the innocent people out there that have fallen prisoners of Malware!

I just thought I'd post publicly what I'd said to 1972vet who did such a great job of helping us.

" I just want to tell you what a great thing it is that you and the others are doing, volunteering your time and expertise to help victims of these criminal scumballs.  It's a great thing to feel that someone skilled is in your corner when you feel victimized and worried about losing, not only the use of your computer, but sensitive information that could cause you to lose your money as well.  Many of us (especially those of us that are unemployed) would have absolutely no other options except expensive and doubtful "Big Box Store" help.   In addition, your stunning response time and clear communications were better than any in-house IT support that I've had in the past!   My father said to especially say "thank you" and let you know how much he appreciates your help.  He'll be sending a donation to help support the site.

I absolutely want to say thank you to Spyware Hammer! Finding this website and being able to work with the talented and knowledgeable volunteer staff here made such a huge difference for me. Staff member Kevinf80 was incredibly helpful and walked me through the repairs I needed to make step by step. Guy did a fantastic job and I would encourage anyone in need of assistance with malware to strongly consider joining the Spyware Hammer community and learning more about your machine and virus protection under the tutelage of one of their expertly trained staffers.

Major props to Kevinf80 as my machine is working great now and I was this close to reformatting my hard drive and giving up the fight. Feel so much more prepared and knowledgeable going forward now from this experience.

Its good to be back online and what can I say, Kevinf80, Spyware Hammer, you rock!
