DEP crashing IE8?

Recently I have been getting alerts that my IE8  must close to protect my computer, due to Data Execution Prevention. They occur only when I click on a link, but only occasionally and randomly.

The interesting thing is that when I click on "OK"> send info to MS etc, IE8 does not in fact close, and the link then opens in a new window.

I have DEP configured to the default "Turn on DEP for esssential Windows programs and services only" in XP MCE/sp3.

The PC and IE8 otherwise works well, my security scans (NOD32, MBAM, Windows Defender) all scan clean, and I have no reason to suspect malware is involved otherwise. I keep all my programs up-to-date with Secunia's PSI.

All I see in Event Viewer is:

Thanks for the prompt reply, faith_michele.

Your link doesn't exactly describe my problem, but I did recently trial SUPERAdBlocker, which I subsequently discovered did not support IE8 (yet). So I removed it from my startup, but I see it is still enabled in my add-ons. I have now disabled SAB in add-ons. It's as likely a culprit as any. All other add-ons (and I don't have many) antedated this problem.

I was getting 1-3 alerts per day, so I should know soon if this was the cause, and will post back if this solved it.

It appears the suggestion in your first post link worked, as I have had no alerts in 2 days (previously was getting them daily).

Will try Adblock Plus for IE8 also. I'm much obliged.

Try what Cudni's link suggests first (great pictures) and then look at these IE Troubleshooting tips about running in the no addon mode.
