I go by Hoov, and I will be helping you with your problem. I must ask you to do a few things for me.

First, tell me everything that you have done, if anything, to try and fix this problem.

Second, please only use 1 forum to help clear up your problem. Posting on more than 1 and following instructions from more than 1 forum will cause those helping you to pull out thier hair.

Third, follow my instructions - If you can't for some reason, or if you don't understand something, please tell me. If you deviate from my instructions, tell me, it may make a difference on where we go.

Fourth, Have faith. I will do all I can to get your computer working, and if I can't - someone else here will know something else to try.

Before we start trying to fix your computer, you need to make sure your data is backed up. Also let me know of any software you have running that encrypts your harddrive.

Now onto trying to fix your computer.


I am curious as to how you removed those entries, did you do it via hijackthis? If so you may want to run a scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to make sure it got all of the  pieces, and it may remove those entries.

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.

• Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
• Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  
• When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
• When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
• Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  
• Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

• Then click Finish.

MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.

• If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself.
• Press the OK button to close that box and continue.
  
• If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. Alternatively, you can update through MBAM's interface from a clean computer, copy the definitions (rules.ref) located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from that system to a usb stick or CD and then copy it to the infected machine.

On the Scanner tab:

• Make sure the "Perform Full Scan" option is selected.
  
• Then click on the Scan button.
  
• If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  
• The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  
• Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.

Back at the main Scanner screen:

• Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
• The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  
• Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Regardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you after scanning with MBAM. Please temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.

Hi Hoov, Thank you for your time. I have included my steps and malwarebytes log as requested. Please note mount points G: and F: are another bootable XP install which have serious issues (Internet Security 2010). I was going to post separately on that.

Steps I used to remove;
Used delcmdservice (by Marckie), and saved it to theDesktop.

I hope you don't mind, but as I can not find those 6 entries you originally asked I would like to see what the new version of hijackthis will show. Just so that you know, I don't believe they are harmful as they only seem to show up in your log. And we will get rid of them.

Please download HJT Installer from  HERE

Click the Download button. When the TrendMicro HJT install box appears, double click on the HJTInstall.exe. Click on Install.
    * It will be installed by default here: C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
    * A shortcut to the application will also be placed on your Desktop.
    * The program will open automatically after installation.
    * You can double-click the icon that was placed on the Desktop to run subsequent HijackThis scans or you can use the icon inside the folder.
    * The folder HijackThis is where you will find the HJT logs that you save.
    * When you use the application to remove anything, you will also find the backup copies made by HJT inside this folder.
    * The first time you open HijackThis, check the Main Menu button at the bottom center. When the main menu appears check the box "Show this window when I start HijackThis".
    * Click on "Do a system scan and save logfile." When the log pops up in Notepad, copy and paste that file back here as a New Message in this forum.
    * DO NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
    * Before closing HJT, please click on the AnalyzeThis button. "Analyze This" is for use by TrendMicro, and DOES NOT mean "Analyze My Log".
      You will need to post your log on the Hijackthis Forum.
    * Close the web page that appears and then close the program.

Summary;
I was hit with "Internet Security 2010." I did not realize I was using FF 3.0 instead of FF 3.5 and believe this was my error. I just clicked a regular link on google and bang they got me!

What I have done so far;
I followed the manual removal process at the bottom of this site, hxxp://www.2-spyware.com/remove-internet-security-2010.html

Problems I am still having;
1. Unusually long startup time.
2. No task bar is loaded (is not auto hide).
3. Desktop background image displays as bright green background with message "Your System is infected! ......" in red and white writing.
4. Display properties are completely disabled.
5. No internet access [LSPFix shows no problems].
