Please follow the instructions here, http://spywarehammer.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?topic=88.0 except post the log back to this thread. Once you have done that, your log will be stuck into the que and one of the helpers will be with you as soon as they have an opening.  I have removed your attachment to protect the folks that are going to help you and for people that use your log for research. Please paste all logs into the thread unless otherwise requested.

If I am helping you and you don't hear from me for 24Hrs, send me a PM Please!

Hello rterwin and welcome to SpywareHammer, my name is kevinf80 and i`ll be helping you with your problems. Please take the time to read through any instructions as they are given, if there is anything you don`t understand, let me know and we`ll work through it together. You may find it beneficial to copy and print the instructions as they are given for reference later.
Please be aware that some of the logs I may ask for can be very complex and can take a long time to decipher, we are all volunteers here with jobs and families so I ask that you be patient when waiting for replies.
It is inadvisable to seek help at more than one forum, this could compound any issues you already have and cause considerable confusion for the helpers.
Whilst I will do my very best to rid you of any infections that maybe on your system be aware that Malware is often buggy and can be very unstable, with that in mind it is advisable to backup any important data before we begin.

Please proceed as follows :-

Step 1

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
Alernative D/L mirror
Alternative D/L mirror

MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to ALLOW the changes. Instructions available HERE
  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
  • Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
  • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Then click Finish.

MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.
  • If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue.
  • If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from HERE and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
On the Scanner tab:
  • Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
  • Then click on the Scan button.
  • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
Back at the main Scanner screen:
  • Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.
  • Exit MBAM when done.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

Step 2

We need to see some additional information about what is happening in your machine.
Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links.  Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs

         1. DDS.txt
         2. Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop.
  • The instructions here ask you to attach the Attach.txt.

  • Instead of attaching, please copy/past both logs into your next reply.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note:  You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run.
After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection.
Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.
Information on A/V control HERE

Step 3

Download Security Check by screen317 from HERE or HERE.
Save it to your Desktop.
Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box. Press any key when asked.
A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

What i`d like to see in your reply :-

  • Log from Malwarebytes
  • Logs from DDS
  • Log from Security Check

Firstly, thank you SO much for your time and dedication doing this job in your spare time as a volunteer; truly you are to be commended so once again thank you.
Second, I have had malware bytes for about six months already and have run it many times in the CONSTANT pursuit of computer cleanliness, if you would rather, I also do full scans every other day and have full scan logs to post if they would be more helpful.
Lastly, I am a patient person and am in no hurry--as I myself am extremely busy--especially if it makes your job harder so take your time and be thorough. I don’t mind waiting for competent assistance.

Hi again rterwin,

Your logs do not indicate any malware issues, do you have any specific issues that you failed to mention initially. One minor problem that can easily be addressed.
Your Adobe Reader is outdated and therefore vulnerable. Please go HERE and get the required update. There is a Free McAfee® Security Scan Plus available with the download, that is optional and down to user preference. Personally i`d leave it out.

Ok, so here is the problem, at least once a day my computer screens (i have 2) flash black for a few seconds and after it returns to normal there is a small yellow triangle at the bottom right of the task bar.  I can not get a response from it no matter if i left or right click and there is no message displayed if i hover my mouse over it. So naturally i visited the event viewer to see what it logged and it logged "Display driver atikmdag stopped responding and has successfully recovered." but several minutes later the computer will freeze in the most violent manner i have ever seen.  The bottom of the screen tears and then it slowly deteriorates into static like an old-fashoned TV with no signal.  I have looked everywhere  :h for this "atikmdag" driver and i CAN'T find it so that i can fix it. Its driving me crazy!  :h
Anyway, it actually forces me to manually shut it down if it tears and the only way ive found to cope with it is to restary my computer everytime that the little triangle shows up--three times a day sometimes--this is no way to live.  I could really use help. Thanks for your time.

Hi again rterwin,

That problem you are experiencing is graphics related as you are probably aware, it is also very a very common fault. I did a quick Google search and found numerous links to this issue.
The major problem with this fault seems to be no definite single cause, have a read through this link atikmdag stopped responding. Please read through to the end, it gives many suggestions. As a stop gap, try using one monitor and if your card is overclocked; try lowering the speed. Some have found a fix by uninstalling the Control Center and using a stand alone graphics driver which is available from ATI.
You really should take the issue up with ATI and see what sort of feedback you get from them.

Ok, so how do i lower the clock speed on my graphics card. Also the tech support at ati is essentually useless i have contacted them already and no helpful information was given to me.  It seems like theyare simply ignoring the problem with their cards because most people dont use two displays and we are not all that important as a result.

Hi rterwin,

Whilst i`m sympathetic to your problem, I`m not sure I can give you anymore assistance. As you are aware this is a malware removal board not a help section for gaming issues.
Because you are asking how to lower the clock speed is it safe to assume that you have not overclocked the card to start with? Here are a couple of links to sites with specific help for your issue, please read through them to the end before making any decisions :-

Link 1
Link 2

To alter clock speeds on your card you need the "ati tool" Google for "ati tool for vista" However, if you are not 100% confident I would not recommend altering any settings.

Well thank you for all your help, you have really gone above and beyond to assist me and i appreciate it a lot.  Sorry to have sent you on a wild goose chase but i was thinking it may have been a malware problem originally and now i know otherwize.  Keep up the good work, take it easy man.

Unless there is something else, this will be my final post.

 Thanks
