Go into the device manager in the control panel and see if it shows up there. If there is a yellow exclamation mark or a red X all you need to do is update the drivers, or install them, and it should work. If you double click on the wireless device, there will be a button there for updating the drivers.

Is it a TravelMate, Aspire, or Extensa?

Here is the link to the driver you need. Download it and install it. If that is the wrong one, then try this one. The first is an Atheros driver, the second is a Broadcom. Those are the two wireless cards that shipped with your laptop. I don't know which one you have. But if you try to install the wrong one, it should tell you that the hardware is not present. If it does, try the other one. Even if it does install, and it is the wrong one, it still will not work. So you would then try the other one.

I downloaded and installed the first one and it didn't do anything so i tried the second one and i got a message saying this application failed to start because file aegisE5.dll was not found, but wireless is working and its listed in the add remove program so i guess it still worked. Then i went to uninstall the first one then after my computer rebooted i keep getting a pop up saying the same thing this application failed to start because file aegisE5.dll was not found, what should i do?

Does it cause a problem if you do nothing to it?

Do a search on your entire harddrive and see if you can find aegisE5.dll

Copy it to the c:\windows\system32 folder, then reboot your computer.
