IDE HDD works very very slow
« on: May 20, 2011, 01:53:20 am »
Hello everyone.
I bought a new PC with Sata hdd.
My old PC had IDE hdd.

i have a lot of data stored in the IDE drive, about 150 GB (maxtor 300GB)

when i first saw my new motherboard i though i couldn't install my old hdd, because the new motherboard uses sata cables.

so i had to install my hdd together with the dvd-drive.
but the problem is that the old drive works very slow.

if you have any experience what could be causing this problem
should i change jumper settings or master-slave positions.
or is this a software problem.
I scanned my PC recently and Im sure I don't have any malware-virus file.
Thank you in advance.

Set the HD to a master setting, and the DVD drive to a slave setting and see if that works.

you know what.
you are my Hero.
that really worked.

didn't know master-slave settings effect the speed of the HDD.
