OEM Compatibility Lists for Windows 10 Upgrade
« on: August 21, 2015, 09:24:01 PM »
Recently, I had the opportunity to assist @MicrosoftHelps on social media when many customers were trying to upgrade to Windows 10. Some people were not seeing the prompt to upgrade their computers, so they decided to force the installation. That created problems. When I checked compatibility, the OEM(s) did not have the specific model(s) listed. I had to remind the customers to revert to their previous operating system and to check OEM compatibility.

OEM's are constantly updating their lists as they test older systems. Before upgrading, it can save headaches if users confirm compatibility beforehand.

Note:
Quote
The goal of this specification is to enable OEMs, ODMs, SoC vendors, and other component vendors to make early design decisions for devices and computers that will run Windows 10.

This specification does not provide compatibility and certification requirements for devices and computers that run Windows 10 or implementation guidance for exceptional user experiences. Microsoft will provide this guidance in other documents at a later date.
